Moonlight Pickers @ Carol’s Pub (7/11)

Classic “Red Dirt” Country has a home in the suburbs of Chicago with The Moonlight Pickers coming back to a familiar stop at Carol’s Pub on Saturday, July 11th. Carol’s Pub is open at Noon for drinks and food, but the show starts at 10:30 PM and is $5.00 general admission for anyone 21 and over.

The Moonlight Pickers aim to blend old school country, with a fresh renegade perspective, diverging from the current pop country scene. Originating from the western suburbs of Chicago, lead singer Melissa Ann caught the attention of guitarist Michael Pentz in 2014. Since then, the band has added more members to its ranks to perform Melissa Ann’s original music, such as her EP “What I Need” and their 2018 Album “Rescue”.

The Moonlight Pickers find tradition in performing in the small bars and taverns they started in, great for anyone who loves an intimate music scene, only feet away from the artists. Whether you’re a new or old country fan, you can find common ground with The Moonlight Pickers rebellious spin on classic country.

Hardcore Country fans and Chicago City slickers alike can come together to witness that Red Dirt Country has a memorable presence in the Windy City.

MacGregor Salmon: Transfer student from Texas A&M to Loyola University Chicago, I am a Film and Digital Media major. Though my primary study is in film, I love all things creative and want to immerse myself in all kinds of mediums. Sharing and discovering music with others has always been an important part of my relationships with others. I grew up on funk, and the first song I can remember hearing is Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder. I still have much love for funk, but I also lean towards alternative, jazz, and anything experimental as I love to hear how new artists are changing the music scene. I find myself on Soundcloud often, looking for creative new works by independent artists. I also consider myself to be a writer, I love to write creative short stories, but I also want to use my skills as a writer to further my appreciation and understanding of music, and the artists behind their work.
