Queen guitarist Brian May has revealed that he has suffered “a small heart attack” earlier this month, according to Pitchfork. He also noted that he had three stents fitted to his heart due to artery blockages, and “was actually very near death” due to his heart troubles. May revealed all of this on an Instagram TV video statement.
May also addressed previous claims that he had “managed to rip [his] Gluteus Maximus to shreds,” stating that pain he was experiencing was a result of a compressed sciatic nerve. All in all, the guitarist seems to be feeling better and in positive spirits, despite his circumstances.
As the guitarist of Queen, May was at the forefront of music innovation, as his work along with Freddie Mercury and the rest of Queen went on to define a generation of music. Despite Mercury’s untimely death in 1991, Queen would cement themselves as one of music’s greatest acts, and captivated audiences around the world.
