Singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson and actor Will Chase, who is best known for his role as country superstar Luke Wheeler on the ABC television program Nashville, have teamed up for a parody of the Netflix docuseries Tiger King. The parody was done in the form of a comedic music video titled “Tigers and Young Men,” which also has a fundraiser set up to support The Humane Society of the United States.
Chase parodies the role of Tiger King’s Joe Exotic, complete with blue collar cowboy outfit with jeans, a collared shirt, baseball cap and a wig mimicking Exotic’s iconic mullet. The video hilariously pays homage to the Netflix series and Exotic’s country music videos, while reiterating the fact that Exotic “like(s) tigers and young men.” Michaelson handles the background instrumentation of this song, while Chase handles the lead vocals, which are made to be a pastiche of a modern country sound.
“We had a bit of fun doing this, but let’s turn a bit of fun into a bit of good,” Michaelson stated in the description for the video’s donate section. “The Humane Society fights all forms of cruelty to achieve the vision behind their name: The Humane Society.”
Mcihaelson released an illustrated music video for “Pretty (Chapter 10) last year, which was also inspired by a Netflix original series, Stranger Things, a scripted series that blends the elements of horror, science fiction and young adult drama. Her latest album release Stranger Songs, also took inspiration from the series, which is prominently noted in its title and cover.
