Laura Marling brings SOLO to the Independent on 05/03

On 02/11, UK singer/songwriter, Laura Marling announced her “Solo” North American Spring tour. Winning Best British Female Solo artist in 2011, and being nominated multiple times afterward, “Solo” is a very fitting for the artist. On May 3rd, Laura Marling will be stopping at the Independent to bless us with a captivating performance. Tickets are currently $23 dollars in advance and $25 dollars at the door. The door opens at 7:30 and the show begins at 8:00.

Laura Marling is the definition of a one-band-women and with a quick glance over her discography, it’s not difficult to understand why. She has a very distinct and charming voice that is laid on top of even more enchanting guitars chords. What even more interesting is that none of her music sounds repetitive; the stories she creates with her lyrics makes each song feel like a new and different journey. What makes these stories that much greater is the fact that they don’t conform to one specific genre. The underlying beauty behind Laura Marling’s discography is that she doesn’t stick with just one sound; her voice is comforting, versatile and has the ability to transverse multiple volumes. If her live sets are even a percentage as how captivating her albums are, fans and new listeners are definitely in for one of the best live shows they’ve ever experienced.

Malik Bey: I'm an East Coast native who took on the adventure of living in the Bay Area for the last few years. I'm currently in the process of developing a social media website that will allow all kinds of artist to collaborate on projects and have a safe space to exhibit their art. In my spare time, I create a playlist series called "DRINK WATER"; which is a creative take on exposing listeners to refreshing new music. This series is a collaborative effort from me and a few other music lovers with the purpose of getting more music lovers to contribute to the playlist. I also DJ around the bay area from time to time; feel free to ask me about some of my live sets. But overall, I'm just a music connoisseur who loves talking and writing about music.
