Primus has just announced a “A Tribute to Kings Tour ” where they are planning to pay homage to rock legends, Rush, by performing their classic 1977 album called ‘A Farewell to Kings’ in its entirety. Mixing in their own tracks, Primus’ main intention is to create a loving tribute to the three members of Rush that have inspired them since youth. The bay area natives are planning to perform at Berkeley’s Greek Theatre on 07/17. Tickets go on sale 02/20. Presale general admission tickets are going to be sold for $55 using presale password, ‘kings’. Opening up for Primus will be Wolfmother and Battles. The doors open at 7:00 PM and the show begins at 8:00 PM.
The brilliance behind Primus is their instrumental prowess. The eccentric sounds of the bass, being played by Les Claypool, is the driving force behind what makes their sound so unique. But what’s even more impressive is a band that can compliment such a sound; getting an opportunity to see that energy live must be on a whole different level. Primus over the past few years have created two full length literary-influence projects. The first being “Primus & the Chocolate Factory with Fungi Ensemble” , which is inspired by the iconic Willie & the Chocolate Factory. The second project is called “The Desaturating Seven” which is inspired by children’s book “The Rainbow Goblins”. Below is one of their most popular songs called “Seven” which is off of their “The Desaturating Seven” album:
