Synth-pop group Poliça have released another new single titled “Steady,” from their forthcoming album When We Stay Alive, which is set to be released on January 31st via Memphis Industries. This latest track finds the band’s vocalist Channy Leaneagh reflecting on motherhood.
“Steady,” begins with a soft acoustic guitar, which is gradually complimented by various synths, and rhythmic beats that add to Leaneagh’s passionate vocal delivery. The track has a somewhat somber instrumental, which gradually changes to a more upbeat tone during the song’s chorus. This song displays a level of introspection, as Leaneagh laments of motherhood.
“It’s about looking around and realizing you and your kiddos are all alone and feeling terrified about taking care of it all and raising good humans to boot,” she explained in a press release. “I see my own weaknesses looking back at me everyday as a parent and I’ve also found my strengths. Building our own family and foundation.”
Last month the band debuted a new music video for the song “Forget Me Now,” which they debuted alongside set of spring 2020 tour dates. During their album announcement, the band debuted two new tracks titled “Driving,” and “trash in bed,” along with an announcement regarding an upcoming performance at the at Eaux Claires Hiver, a spinoff festival of Eaux Claires, the festival founded by Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and The National’s Aaron Dessner.
Leaneagh teamed up with Justin Vernon of Bon Iver and Jenny Lewis for the Swamp Dogg song “Sleeping Without You Is A Dragg.”
