Alternative rock band Grouper have announced a new album titled Healer, which is set to be released on March 13th via Canvasback Music and Atlantic Records. The band have additionally announced a set of spring 2020 tour dates which are set to begin on March 18th in Santa Fe, New Mexico and wrap up on May 21st in Birmingham, Alabama.
This latest album release follow’s-up from the band’s latest music video and single for the song “Deleter,” which appeared last week. The upbeat song shows the band members in orange outfits reminiscent of jailhouse jumpsuits, and compliments the song’s alternative rock sound. This video was directed by award-winning cinematographer Chris Blauvelt, who served as the cinematographer for Jonah Hill’s critically-acclaimed directorial debut Mid90s.
This latest album project was recorded in El Paso, TX’s at the historic Sonic Ranch with producer Dave Sitek, who has worked with TV On The Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Weezer) and at Larrabee Studios in Los Angles with Malay who has worked with the likes of Frank Ocean and Lorde. This will be the band’s first studio album since their 2019 release Big Mess, which was accompanied by a streaming re-release a year later.
As part of their upcoming tour, the band will be partnering with The Ally Coalition, an organization which uses its resources to help support at-risk LGBTQ youth. In addition, the band will also be partnering up on the road with HeadCount, a non-partisan organization that promotes participation in democracy through music, culture and digital media.
