Ultraísta Announces New Album Sister for March 2020 Release and Shares New Video for “Tin King”

The musical trio Ultraísta, a supergroup consisting of Laura Bettinson (FEMME / lau.ra), multi-instrumentalist/producer Nigel Godrich (Radiohead) and drummer/producer Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M., Atoms for Peace), have revealed new details for their upcoming sophomore album Sister. This new project is set to be released on March 13th via Partisan Records, and is supported by a new track and music video titled “Tin King.”

“Tin King,” was self-directed by the group and shows Bettison walking across the streets of London, coming across a an art gallery, and a series of strobe lights from the city’s own street lights and skyline. The songs instrumental blends various elements of electronica, with steady piano chords and house inspired rhythms that gradually increase the song’s tempo, blended with elements of more abstract electronica elements.

“All three of us have so many transferable skills,” Godrich explained in a press release, “and Ultraísta is an opportunity to do something outside what we’d normally be doing. It’s all of us wearing different hats. For me, when I’m working with another creative force, my point of entry into the music is completely different. With this project it can take a lot longer because we’re able to be more self-indulgent. It’s a control freak’s dream!”

The band announced that they were releasing new LP last month, where they also revealed that they were now signed to Partisan Records. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2012, and was known for blending elements of Afrobeat, electronic and dance music and the visual arts.
