Entertainment powerhouse Live Nation has just finalized a long term agreement with Los Angeles’ Belasco Theater. The Belasco will join the Wiltern and the Palladium in LA, the Observatory in Orange County, the House of Blues Anaheim in Orange County, and the Riverside Municipal Auditorium and Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside on Live Nation’s Southern California venue roster.
Live Nation has been busy acquiring shares of the market for the best venue locations in western United States. Their acquisition of the Belasco was just the latest in a string of investments in southern California; the company also recently purchased Spaceland Presents, which includes its venues Echoplex, the Echo, and the Regent.
The Belasco is one of Los Angeles’ storied theaters; completed in 1926, the theater has retained most of its Churrigueresque, Spanish Renaissance, Moorish and Gothic architecture and detail, making it both visually unique and technologically modern. Ben Weeden, COO of Live Nation Clubs & Theaters division stated in a press release, “With the addition of The Belasco, we now have the premier portfolio of clubs and theaters in Los Angeles, giving an artist the ability to grow from 200 capacity up to 4,000 capacity in a variety of unique and historical venues . . . The Belasco is a beloved venue, and we’re excited to be able to continue its remarkable history in 2020 and fulfill its modern potential.”
