Tennis Debut Retro-Pop Single “Need Your Love”

The indie pop duo, Tennis released a new track, “Need Your Love,” which features the husband and wife team, Patrick Riley and Alaina Moore in the beginning of the video where they play the piano and drums. As the song moves, the message is clear as Moore gives her perspective with the lyrics, “Baby I’m fated but you will be waiting. I will have made it and you’ll be explaining what you think the world owes you, lookin for someone to carry you into futures that beckon but need to be followed through. I hope you’re happy, I hope you’re pleased. I thought you were a victim but it’s clear to me, I need your love and I need your touch like I need a bolt of lightning from the sky above.”

Moore is featured in different landscape settings like the desert and the beach, wearing an olive colored, retro, denim jumpsuit and dons a frizzy red, hairdo while her blue eye-shadow offsets the outfit perfectly. The video was directed by Luca Venter and was inspired by Moore’s love of “old musicals and all things Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire and Bob Fosse.”

“’Need Your Love’ is rooted in anger,” says Moore. “I usually deny myself the emotion, but the music demanded intensity from me and I had a lot to be angry about at the time. I was letting go of unhealthy relationships, trying to find healing without closure. The song turned into an emotional purge. We used sparse instrumentation and tempo changes to reflect the isolation and relentlessness of my mental state. Despite all the heaviness, writing this song was a joyful experience. The music was resilient enough to handle our wildest ideas and we indulged every whim. It’s my favorite song Patrick and I have written.”

According to a statement, Tennis is known as a captivating and charismatic live act and has spent much of its existence on the road, including sold out headline runs, festival sets, tours alongside such like-minded artists as Father John Misty, Spoon, The Decemberists, and The Shins, and recently, a sold out summer 2019 double bill with Mumford & Sons. The new album, Swimmer will be released on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2020. The album was produced by Tennis and mixed by four-time Grammy Award-nominee Claudius Mittendorfer (Panic! At The Disco, Parquet Courts).

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
