The Maynard James Keenan led supergroup Puscifer have announced on social media that they are finishing up the final touches on tracking a new album, which may be released next year. According to their recent post made on January 8th, 12 tracks have apparently been recorded by the group, although one track remains.
Toward the tail end of last year the band revealed that they were recording with Game of Thrones and The Magicians actress Esmé Bianco. The band teased some pictures of themselves recording in a studio a month before, where they also hinted at a 2021 release date for the upcoming project.
Keenan has been busy touring and recording work with his most prominent group Tool, who released their latest studio album Fear Inoculum last year. This album release ended a 13 year hiatus for the band and follow-up their 2006 release 10,000 days.
“Overall, Fear Inoculum makes it seem as if 13 years did not pass and Tool just picked up right from their last release,” mxdwn reviewer Erin Winans explained. “The prog-metal band continues to defy boundaries and deliver engaging songs that, despite their length, keep people hooked until the last note. Ultimately, one listen is not enough and fans will find themselves hitting repeat. ”
Keenan is also a member of the alternative metal supergroup A Perfect Circle, which released their latest studio album Eat The Elephant last year. “After working on the album for nearly ten years, they have released Eat The Elephant, and the final result definitely reflects the years of effort put into its creation,” mxdwn reviewer Caitlin Wills explained.
