Discharge Announces 40th Anniversary Release Protest and Survive – The Anthology for February 2020 Release

UK based Punk legends, Discharge, are celebrating their 40-year anniversary for the release of their debut single “Realities Of War,” originally released in 1980. The band will release their Protest and Survive-The Anthology on Feb. 21, which features 38 career spanning tracks, along with three unreleased singles.

The band dropped one of the unreleased single, “Descending Into Madness,” on Jan. 9, 2020. The song was first recorded in 2002 with the original vocalist of the band, Kelvin Morris.

“As we were writing tunes for the 2002 album, me and bones felt that Kelvin was not doing too much to contribute so we didn’t really know how it was going to turn out,” said founding member and vocalist Tezz Roberts. “We did in Stoke and let me tell you, we breathed a sigh of relief when we heard his voice was back!”

Discharge was originally started back in 1977, with guitarist Roy Wainwright and Roberts as the founding members. Later on, bassist Nigel Bamford and dummer Tony Atkinson joined the band, followed by Robert’s brother, Tony Roberts.

The band then went on to record their debut single, “Realities Of War,” which was topping the UK Independent Chart for 44-weeks. After the debut of the band’s third EP, Decontrol, the band reached No. 2 in the UK Indie charts.

Protest and Survive – The Anthology is available for preorder on the band’s website. Potential tour dates for the promotion of this upcoming release is currently unknown.
