Colin Stetson Scored New Sci-Fi Horror Film Color Out of Space and Shares New Song “Contact”

Abstract-jazz saxophonist, Colin Stetson, popularly known for composing the music for the 2018 American horror film Hereditary, is making a comeback by writing the score for the upcoming sci-fi horror film, Color Out Of Space, set to release on Jan. 24, 2020. On Jan. 9, Milan Records USA, released the first track, “Contact,” from the official sound track.

The song starts off with an eerie violin, automatically creating a high-pitched sound. The track switches from music to silence, creating an atmosphere of what one would of expect from a horror movie.

Throughout the song, low pitch synths are heard, to add contract to the high-pitched violin. Alien-like beats are added, making the song shift to what would almost sound futuristic.

By the end of the song, the violins have disappeared, only to be replaced by synths and shallow beats. We hear a couple seconds of silence, then a soft synth, sounding scarily happy, and back to silence, concluding the song.
