Megadeth will be heading back on the “Killing Road,” according to a recent update they posted on Instagram, indicating that the band will be touring Europe alongside their lead singer Dave Mustaine and the bands Five Finger Death Punch and Bad Wolves. This upcoming tour will begin at the Helsinki Hartwell Arena in Finland on January 20 and will wrap up at the Budapest Sportarena in Hungary on February 20.
“Megadeth is back!” the band shared via social media. “We can’t wait to see and play for you all on the Killing Road in 2020! What songs do you want to hear?”
The band had previously cancelled their 2019 tour dates after Mustaine was diagnosed with throat cancer. David Ellefson, the band’s bassist, stated that Mustaine finished treatment back in October, and teased a possible album release for the near future.
“I’m on the other side of the majority of the treatment, and I feel really strong,” Mustaine explained in an interview with Rolling Stone back in November. “After the radiation, the guy said all of my test results looked amazing. ‘You look like you’re in a stage 1 and you’re supposed to be in stage 3 right now.’ And then the oncologist said the same thing: ‘You look really strong.'”
Ellefson released an album titled Sleeping Giants via Combat Records last July. This project featured former Megadeth guitarist Chris Poland, Mark Tremonti (Alter Bridge), guitarist Joey Radziwill (Sacred Reich) and drummer Dave McClain (Machine former leader). This record was supported by the single “Hammer Comes Down.”
