Poison The Well recently responded to a Twitter post after someone speculated they had new music in the works. The band confirmed that they currently have no plans for new music, stating “Sorry, my man. No new record in the works. Maybe one day though.” While fans may be eager for new music, the band shared about the difficulties in getting back into the studio together this past summer.
The band’s drummer, Chris Hornbrook shared, “When the band stopped, everybody kind of went their separate ways. We all remained in contact, we’re all friends, it’s like… brothers. And it seems to me that getting everybody back in the same room on the same page with a unified vision has been near impossible.”
He continued about the difficulties in “Getting everybody on the same page. It’s just really difficult because life happens. People get into relationships, family members die, etc. It seems like when we’re kind of getting close to that happening, something mysteriously gets in the way. I’m not saying it’s out of the question in terms of Poison The Well releasing any music. I don’t know under what… I don’t know how, because it just seems impossible, but I never rule it out.”
The band will be celebrating their 20th anniversary of The Opposite Of December… A Season Of Separation and to commemorate the occasion the band put together a special 20th anniversary vinyl limited reissue. The double gate fold twelve inch comes in a blue swirl vinyl and will be limited to 500 copies on a first come first serve basis. All orders after will come in transparent blue. Accompanying the vinyl is a commemorative special booklet that contains rare photos, lyrics and fliers from the 1999 – 2001 era of PTW. Poison The Well will be performing their debut album in full at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, CA on January 18, 2020. Tickets for that show are available HERE.
Poison the Well arose quickly within the underground hardcore punk scene back in Miami, Florida in the 1990’s. The band toured various places in the United States and is described on their website as having the “guitar histrionics of Slayer and the brutal stomp of Hatebreed.” Poison the Well continues to draw hardcore punk fans, young and old with albums like 2007’s Versions and 2009’s The Tropic Rot that illustrated a willingness to push boundaries without losing the band’s metal-styled muscle. The band includes members, Jeffery Moreira, Ryan Primack, Chris Hornbrook and Bradley Grace.
