Anders Odden co-founder and guitarist of the band Cadaver, and a touring bassist of the band Satyricon, has revealed that he is battling colon cancer in a recent post on social media. The performer revealed that he has undergone chemotherapy to shrink his tumor, and will be undergoing surgery for to remove the tumor this coming Monday, January 06th.
Odden referenced legendary metal performer and bassist Lemmy Kilmeister in his post, as the performer died after battling an aggressive form of cancer at the age of 70. Mikkey Dee, a drummer who played with Kilmeister as part of Motorhead, was in Sweden raising money in support of cancer research, which encouraged Odden to share a video with him.
“I wanted to wait to tell you all about my condition until my surgery was done, but then I got this video clip,” Odden began his post. “On my musical hero Lemmy’s, death date (28.12.2015) my friend Hank Von Hell is in Sweden raising money for the cancer cause with Motorhead drummer Mikkey Dee. Getting this video was very touching and made me wanna share it with you to raise money for cancer research.”
Odden released four albums as a part of Cadaver, with the final project titled Necrosis being released back in 2004. He has since performed on four different projects with Satyricon, who he has been performing live with since 2009. The performer has also held several guest appearances with bands such as The Young Gods and Ministry.
