The Closner sisters, who go under their name as the musical trio Joseph, have released a new music video titled “NYE,” to celebrate the upcoming new year. The track “NYE,” was originally released this past fall on ATO Records, and was preceded by the band’s previous single releases for the project “Fighter” and “Without You.”
“NYE,” shows the band members at a New Years Eve party, with disco balls and gold party streamers serving as the main decorative backdrop for the video. The trio performs the song in a solemn manner, as they express their conflicted feelings about the upcoming year, with the chorus saying : “I know we’ll make it another year / but I don’t know how.”
Good Luck, Kid, the bands recent album release came at a tumultuous time for the band who was facing a large amount of tension at the time.
“It all came to a head where I said something stupid. It had to happen, but it all came to the surface and blew up,” Meegan Closner said in an interview with Riff Magazine. “It got to a point where Natalie was, like, ‘I can’t do this anymore! I can’t be in this band and do this if you’re not in. If you don’t want this, I can’t force you to do this, but I can’t put myself through this anymore.’”
However, the band eventually worked through on it, which became a unifying force for the sisters. “For me, the choice was to choose my sisters, health and wellness. You hear themes of working through all of the pains of that,” Meegan later explained.
