Garage punk band Le Butcherettes have announced a new EP titled don’t bleed, which is set to be released next Valentine’s Day (February 14th, 2020) on Rise Records. This latest project was produced by Violeta Félix and was recorded in Le Butcherettes’ homebase of El Paso, Texas. The project was also announced on the band’s social media.
According to a statement sent to Consequence of Sound, from band member Terri Gender Bender, the project’s title refers to “a powerful double meaning of being told not to bleed as a woman and feeling shame of blossoming, so with time we are manipulated to hide in the darkness and our blood calls out to the forest creatures pulling them in closer to us for the hunt, even if we hide we are exposed.”
This upcoming project is supported by a new single titled “Tunisia,” a new synth-pop single which serves as a departure from the band’s usual rock sound. The track’s jump synths are complimented by Terri Gender Bender’s sultry vocals, which are mixed and produced in a raw manner.
“Yet…another country not visited. There is another world outside our own,” Terri Gender Bender stated regarding the song. ” Realization that the universe is bigger than one can ever fathom. There is still so much to discover yet the more we learn, the less we know so instead of focusing too much on the rational maybe it’s okay to let go of all the rational and maybe just maybe accept that we are nothing at all unless we choose to become one with all.”
The band shared a video for “Give/Up” at the beginning of the year.
