Pallbearer Complete the Recording of Their New Album for 2020 Release

With the completion of the recording and mixing process for the latest studio album by fiercely melodic Arkansas-based doom metal band, Pallbearer, news came straight from the production source this past Monday, December 16. Producer Randall Dunn shared the news via Twitter. With the signing to one of the premiere metal labels Nuclear Blast Records just this year, Pallbearer is gearing up to have their core reverent fans eagerly anticipating the release of the band’s fourth studio album in 2020.

As previously reported by Consequence of Sound, Dunn had tweeted “‘@pallbearerdoom mixing recording and production finished! That was deeply satisfying and very heavy,’ Dunn captioned a photo of the band. Pallbearer also posted their own tweet of a studio pic, simply stating, ‘That’s a wrap.'”

Pallbearer has solidified their doom metal presence with their fervent melodic vocals and chords displayed from the outset with their debut back in 2012, Sorrow and Extinction. In fact, for the greater half of this decade, Pallbearer has consistently released carefully crafted studio albums via Profound Lore Records with the release of their sophomore 2014 project Foundations of Burden and the follow up third studio album 2017’s Heartless. Pallbearer’s current touring roster features Brett Campbell (lead vocals/synthesizer/guitar), Devin Holt (guitar/backing vocals), Joseph D. Rowland (bass/piano/synthesizer/backing vocals) and Mark Lierly (drums).

News of the band signing to Nuclear Blast Records came earlier in the summer as of June this year. According to the aforementioned Consequence of Sound article, “…Pallbearer, which rose from humble origins with their excellent 2012 debut Sorrow & Extinction to become one of the most celebrated acts in modern doom. While there’s no timetable for the new album’s release, it seems likely that the LP will be out sometime in the first half of 2020.” At the time of Pallbearer’s signing, the melodic collective released their latest single “Atlantis” to acclaimed praise and announced a thread of summer tour dates.

According to Consequence of Sound, speaking enthusiastically on their current label signing and the band’s prospect for future projects Pallbearer collectively said:

“We are very honored to announce that we have signed a worldwide record deal with Nuclear Blast,” the band remarked in a press release. “We had the great privilege of working with them on the European distribution of our previous album, and it was quite clear that this was the next logical step for us. We greatly look forward to continuing our work with Monte Conner and his legendary team at the label, as well as being included amongst a truly unparalleled group of some of heavy music’s greatest artists of the modern era.”
