Metal Injection’s 15th anniversary celebration touched down at the Saint Vitus in Brooklyn, New York earlier this week, as members of bands such as Cave In, Silvertomb, Suicidal Tendencies and former members of The Dillinger Escape Plan performed a cover of the Nine Inch Nails Classic “Wish.” The members of this performance included Stephen Brodsky (Cave In/Mutoid Man), Ben Weinman (Suicidal Tendencies/ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan) Billy Rymer (Throughtcrimes, ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan), Hank Hell (Silvertomb) and Mrs. Smith.
“Wish,” originally appeared on the 1992 Nine Inch Nails EP Fixed, and clocked in at over nine minutes featuring many numerous eclectic industrial synth, and drum sounds, with moments of hard hitting metal riffs and guitars. The band members during this cover, played a more straight ahead metal cover of the song, with quick hitting drums and riffs.
Cave In debuted their most recent album Final Transmission earlier this year, which marked the first album the band released since the death of their former bassist Caleb Scofield. The album featured the last recordings and contributions he made to the band.
“This album is a great one thanks to the meaning behind it and how the band chose to carry on with the music despite how much grief has hurt them. In some ways, Final Transmission is a tribute to Scofield and the band wants listeners to understand how creative he was as a musician and songwriter,” mxdwn reviewer Cait Stoddard explained. “Fans will not be disappointed with this album because the music is just as good as the band’s last release, White Silence, and it gives the fans the chance to hear the voice of Scofield one last time.”
