Rule Them All – Dreams About…

New album brings back hardcore

Hardcore band Rule Them All were formed in 2017 and in 2018 they released their first EP titled An Alignment of Polarity and the record was well received by music listeners. Now the band is back with their second EP titled Dreams About… This record is amazing because the band goes back to the old school roots of hardcore music. Jon Gusman’s vocals are great on this record because his vocals are deep with authority and his voice contributes to the vocal style of what singing hardcore music sounds like. Richie Amour’s and Zach Barnett’s guitar skills are satisfying on the record because the guitar notes on each track provides the electric vibe which is needed to play loud hardcore music and Abbas Muhammad’s drumming technique is fantastic because his drum tempos match the musical intensity the rest of the band is playing. The pure loudness of the music will have listeners headbanging to each song. Overall Dreams About… is a great record because it is enjoyable to listen to the loud old school inspired hardcore music and Rule Them All did a fantastic job with this record.

On the record, there is the self-titled song “Dreams About” and what is amazing about this song is how the music captures the sound of old school hardcore music. The drumming by Muhammad kicks the song off with a great kick beat and throughout the song, his drum beats go from a basic tempo to a wild and erratic drumming sound. The guitar sounds performed by Amour and Barnett are wonderful because the guitars help contribute to the wild energy in the song and the slick guitar sounds can leave listeners veins vibrating as the music blares from their speakers. Gusman’s vocals are great on this track because he is able to harmonize his voice with the rest of the band and the way Gusman shout outs the lyrics in his authoritative voice will have listeners jamming along with the band. Overall “Dreams About” is a great song which can cause listeners to dance crazy while listening and Rule Them All did a fantastic job composing and writing this song.

On Dreams About… there is a song titled “Teacher” and what is great about this song is how the musical structure is being performed by the band. This song consists of deep hardcore music and the musical texture is clear and crisp with the sound of musical electric energy. The amplified guitar sounds by Amour and Barnett are spot on with sheering guitar notes and both men do a great job of staying attuned together throughout the song, Muhammad’s drumming is superb because he is able to play loud and rhythmic drum beats while playing on a faster tempo and when listening, it sounds like Muhammad is enjoying the music. Also, Gusman’s vocals are pure with great authority because when he shouts the lyrics of the song it feels like he is expressing himself with deep and raw emotions. Overall, this song is great because it has all the right elements to create loud and crazy hardcore music.

Also, the song titled “The Alienation” is great because the musical genres of hardcore and metal merge together to create a song that can cause listeners to start dancing like crazy. In some ways, this song has a little bit of grunge added into it because of how well Amour and Barnett are capable of creating low and deep guitar sounds that contribute to that taste of metal in the song. Muhammad’s drumming is great on this track because he is capable of changing his drum beats to a faster tempo which adds the energy to the song and the vocals are great on this song because Gusman’s vocals are filled with a swagger while shouting out the lyrics. Overall this song is great and if listeners want to hear metal mixed with the taste of hardcore music, then this is the song for them.

Dreams About is a great album because it seems like Rule Them All is making a statement with this record and it sounds like the band wants to display their skills through the hardcore music, and listeners should give this album a try.
