Bohren & Der Club of Gore Debut Vivid Music Video for Smooth Single “Tief Gesunken”

The new video by Bohren & Der Club is nothing short of mysterious and romantic. The video is shot in black and white with sensual elements of snowfall set against a pitch black night hour that plays with your senses. There are intermittent visuals of piano keys, moonlight, fire burning and gorgeous transition shots. The melodic piano and bluesy feel set the tone of this video that allures you to the power of our earthly elements. All the while, the jazz infused instrumentals drive the stakes in further, transporting you into another dimension. Bohren & der Club of Gore reunited with producers Mark Sikora and Oliver Brand on the new video. The pair said of the clip, “New to ‘Tief Gesunken’ is the use of slow motion in combination with Jackson Pollock-influenced graphics.”

Bohren & der Club of Gore is Christoph Clöser (saxophone/Fender Rhodes, piano, vibraphone, drums), Morten Gass (organ, piano, vocoder, baritone guitar, mellotron, Fender Rhodes, drums) and Robin Rodenberg (double bass, drums). The band has released seven studio albums: Gore Motel (1994), Midnight Radio (1995), Sunset Mission (2000), Black Earth (2002), Geisterfaust (2005), Dolores (2008), Beileid (2011) and Piano Nights (2014). Their music has been described as “a unique blend of metal, jazz and ambient” music.

The clip, which continues Bohren & der Club of Gore’s visual aesthetic finds them reunited with producers Mark Sikora and Oliver Brand. The pair said of the clip, “New to ‘Tief Gesunken’ is the use of slow motion in combination with Jackson Pollock-influenced graphics.”

The band will release their eighth original album, Patchouli Blue on January 24 via Ipecac Recordings. Bohren & der Club of Gore describe the new album as “four parts ‘classic Bohren,’ three parts strange and four parts jazz lurkers.” Their latest single “Sollen es doch Alle wissen” displays a dark, yet easy listening smooth lounge jazz scene that paints the picture that Bohren & der Club of Gore are not resting on their laurels.

Their recent track “Sollen es doch Alle wissen” is described with majestic tones that linger like a room full of cigarette smoke long after it’s played. From the outset of the track, the saxophone pierces the listener’s ear, so evocative that there is a sense of pain in the musical composition setting the tone for the remainder of the song. When the piano and the bass kicks in, the listener gets caught up in the rapture that is both romantic and mysterious.

Speaking collectively about the forthcoming project Bohren & der Club of Gore said, “Dear friends of music where hardly anything happens, Bohren & der Club of Gore is happy and proud, to announce their new album. You may have already given up hope, but miracles happen: Patchouli Blue – instrumental, slow, uneventful – as always. Love it, hate it, listen to it.”

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
