Groovy duo Sofi Tukker has released their latest music video for “Purple Hat.”The video was directed by Charles Todd, who also shot the videos for “Fantasy” and “Swing.” The video was filmed at SOFI TUKKER’s sold-out New York City homecoming show at Avant Gardner this past fall and shows concert attendees arriving in their best cheetah print and purple hat gear.
The band issued a statement in a press release about the video, saying “This song was literally written about the energy of the crowds at our shows so we wanted to literally capture that energy for the video too.” They continue to say “It’s always so special playing back in New York, where everything started for us and we thought it would be the perfect show to film the video at. We didn’t want to get actors and have a fake party to recreate the energy — we wanted to do it in real life with real people like we do most nights.”
“Purple Hat” comes from their latest EP Dancing On The People, released earlier this year. It includes five additional tracks and a feature with Bomba Estéreo. They will also begin a world tour beginning at the top of next year mixed with headlining and festival shows. See the full list of dates below.
