Chicago rapper Juice WRLD, known legally as Jarad Anthony Higgins, was announced dead yesterday morning, Sunday, December 8th, at a Chicago hospital, according to CNN. He had just flown home into Midway Airport from Los Angeles when the rapper began suffering convolutions and went into a cardiac arrest. Police and federal agents were conducting a search for illegal drugs and guns as Higgins began experiencing medical problems. When asked by the police if Higgins had any medical issues or had taken any drugs, Higgins’ girlfriend allegedly replied that the rapper had taken a Percocet, and she allegedly said that he has a drug problem, according to sources. The authorities were waiting at the airport hours before the arrival of the private plane in order to search the plane for contraband.

Authorities reportedly found 70 pounds worth of marijuana, 6 bottles of prescription codeine cough syrup, 2 nine mm pistols, a .40-caliber pistol, a high-capacity ammunition magazine and metal-piercing bullets aboard the aircraft, according to the Chicago Tribune. 2 men working as security guards for Higgins were charged with misdemeanors for illegal possession of the drugs and weaponry.

Drew Feinerman: I have just completed my senior at the University of Michigan majoring in international studies with an emphasis in political economics and development, with a minor in Chinese language and culture, and I have recently been accepted into the Berklee School of Music's masters of music business program. Although my academic interests include economics, political science, and history, I consider music to be my one true passion. Music is, and has always been, a driving force for the way I think and act every day of my life. I have been playing the tenor saxophone since the age of ten, and playing an instrument at a high level has allowed me to only further my understanding and appreciation for music. While I grew up listening to predominantly classic rock, I soon found myself gravitating toward jazz, hip-hop, funk, and other genres, as my learned to both play and analyze music as a listener. As a writer, I am able to apply my skills both as a musician and a listener, and look forward to the opportunity to being able to express my thoughts on various stories in the music industry.
