Chicago rapper Juice WRLD, known legally as Jarad Anthony Higgins, was announced dead yesterday morning, Sunday, December 8th, at a Chicago hospital, according to CNN. He had just flown home into Midway Airport from Los Angeles when the rapper began suffering convolutions and went into a cardiac arrest. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Police and federal agents were conducting a search for illegal drugs and guns as Higgins began experiencing medical problems. When asked by the police if Higgins had any medical issues or had taken any drugs, Higgins’ girlfriend allegedly replied that the rapper had taken a Percocet, and she allegedly said that he has a drug problem, according to sources. The authorities were waiting at the airport hours before the arrival of the private plane in order to search the plane for contraband.
Authorities reportedly found 70 pounds worth of marijuana, 6 bottles of prescription codeine cough syrup, 2 nine mm pistols, a .40-caliber pistol, a high-capacity ammunition magazine and metal-piercing bullets aboard the aircraft, according to the Chicago Tribune. 2 men working as security guards for Higgins were charged with misdemeanors for illegal possession of the drugs and weaponry.
Juice WRLD was flying into Chicago to celebrate his 21st birthday that took place a few days earlier, on December 2nd. The rapper was just 21 years old and 6 days at the time of his death.
