Britanny Howard, the frontperson for American rock band Alabama Shakes, has announced set of spring 2020 tour dates, which will begin with three shows across California, before finishing up at the Shaky Knees festival in Atlanta, Georgia. This tour is in support of Howard’s most recent album release Jaime, which debuted this year.
A pre-sale has begun for the tour, which users can access using the promo code JAIME. A public sale for the tickets will be available on December 6th. The performer will be performing at the High Water festival, which will host the likes of Wilco and Shovels & Rope. The performer also made an appearance at BIME Live, which featured the likes of Foals, Phantogram, the Mark Lanegan Band, Cooper Saver and a 3D Kraftwerk show.
“New shows for 2020! Can’t wait to get back on the road and play for you,” Howard wrote on Twitter.
Jaime was a departure from the sound that crafted Alabama Shakes unique rock style, and was made with the assistance of jazz keyboard player Robert Glasper. This style moved Howard’s music into a more soul and jazz oriented delivery, which focused on Howard’s interpersonal themes.
“The lyrical content is what really makes the album tick,” mxdwn reviewer Arnim Whisler explained. “Howard details her upbringing as a mixed-race child in the South, losing the sister who taught her how to play music to cancer and learning how to love oneself and that ultimately is what pushes this album over the bar.”
UPDATE (2/18): Brittany Howard has expanded her 2020 tour. She’s added several new dates to the tour, which starts in a little less than a month in Santa Rosa, CA. Added to the tour are shows in Brooklyn, NY, Pittsburgh, PA, Columbus, OH, Indianapolis, IN, St. Louis, MO and Kansas City, MO.
