Australian psych-rock band Tame Impala have just released their latest single “Posthumous Forgiveness,” according to Pitchfork. It is the latest of four singles released by the band this year, all of which are continuing to build the anticipation of their next album.
Interestingly enough, the tune opens with the vocals being supported by auto-tune, a style not normally used by the band. The song plays right into the signature sound of Tame Impala; the use of synthesizers that pair with flowing lyrical melodies are buttressed effortlessly by heavy, intense percussion, all of which set the eerie yet marvelous ambience integral to the band’s style. Following the peak of the buildup, the song completely shifts gears, and concludes with Parker’s soaring vocals over a more welcoming, soothing tone of harmonious synthesizers.
Kevin Parker is the show behind Tame Impala, as he is the singer, guitarist, producer, and arranger of all of the band’s music. Parker initially launched his career under Tame Impala in 2007, and has achieved widespread success both critically and throughout international fanbases. Their most recent and grammy nominated album, Currents, was a huge hit among critics and fans, but since its release in 2015 Tame Impala have yet to release a full length album. The singles that have been being released throughout 2019 have built huge anticipation for the release of their upcoming album, Slow Rush, in 2020.
