Texas-based musical trio Khruangbin, and fellow Texan Leon Bridges have announced a new collaborative EP entitled Texas Sun, which is set to be released on February 7th via Dead Oceans. Along with this EP announcement, the artists have debuted the title track for this upcoming EP.
“Texas Sun,” features flamenco inspired acoustic guitars, complimented by bluesy electric guitars, fitting in nicely with Khruangbin’s unique blend of blues and world music. Leon Bridges provides soothing vocals, and delivers each line with ease.
“We try not to have too much of an intention, because it gets in the way of what the music wants to do,” Lee says. “If you just let the music do what it’s supposed to do, it will reveal itself,” Khruangbin bassist Laura Lee explained. “We tried to take that same approach with Leon. For us, it was opening up our world to have another person in it. But all of it feels like Texas to me.”
Khruangbin debuted their most recent album entitled Con Todo El Mundo last year, and also held an appearance at this year’s Desert Daze. “It’s a delightful little record perfect to listening to in a hammock, swinging beneath two palm trees. Everyone needs a vacation sometimes, make Con Todo El Mundo your next destination,” mxdwn reviewer Drew Pitt explained.
Bridges debuted his sophomore album Good Thing in 2018. “Good Thing may not always deliver, but there’s enough there that the listener can hear that his sound is in no way finished developing, so they should probably stick around to see what’s next,” mxdwn reviewer Arnim Whisler explained.
