Stone Temple Pilots Announce New Acoustic Album Perdida for February 2020 Release

Stone Temple Pilots has announced they will be releasing a new acoustic album titled Perdida early next year. Rolling Stone  has reported that the album is set for a February 7th release and is the first since the announcement of the band’s new singer Jeff Gutt two years ago. They have also released the single “Fare The Well” from the album. Take a listen below.

The band’s bassist Robert DeLeo “This is an album we’ve been wanting to make for quite some time. Most of our songs start acoustically and we felt these would come across in the most genuine way if we kept them that way.”

Gutt also mentioned the meaning of Perdida is “loss” in Spanish, which was influenced by some of his difficult times over the years as he wrote the majority of the album’s lyrics. “I was looking back at difficult moments in my life. I was trying to be vulnerable and that’s a scary thing to do, but it’s also kind of comfortable.”

It was also mentioned that the album was recorded mostly on the road and was originally going to be an EP. “Rob or Dean would play me something acoustically, hum the melody and we’d go from there. We were just supposed to write a few songs for an EP, but it turned into a whole record. We were obviously really influenced in the moment and had a lot to say.”

Shortly after the album’s release, the band will head out on a North American tour playing theaters and clubs. “We’ll probably have a keyboard player and another guitar player and some strings,” says Robert DeLeo. “It’s always nice to add some wonderful musicians and hear what they’re doing to your music.”
