Danish rock band Volbeat have cancelled their show in Helsinki, Finland, due to countrywide labor strikes taking place across the nation. Their show was scheduled to take place on November 27.
“Due to the country-wide labor strikes, we will unfortunately have to cancel our show at Hartwall Arena this Wednesday, November 27th,” the band wrote in a statement posted on their Twitter. “Many of the people and services that we depend on to get the bands, touring crew and gear safely to and from Helsinki will be on strike and it will be impossible for us to arrive in your beautiful city in time for the show.”
The strike was originally caused by postal workers employed under Finland’s state postal service Posti over pay and work hours. The strike then spread to other industries such as Finland’s national airline Finnair, who joined the strike in solidarity with the postal workers.
Volbeat formed in 2001 and are known for their unique blend of rock and roll, rockabilly and heavy metal. Their most recent studio album entitled Rewind, Replay, Rebound, was released earlier this year via Vertigo/Republic/Universal records. This project was the first to feature Kaspar Boye Larsen on bass.
