Tis’ the spirit of the season and Verve Forecast has released its new Hanukkah+ compilation with 12 tracks of various artists putting a spin on Hannukah this holiday season. One of the tracks on the album is Haim’s cover of Leonard Cohen’s “If It Be Your Will” which is a beautiful track filled with soft vocals, instrumentals and meaningful lyrics.
Haim also dropped a new song recently titled “Hallelujah” and the video was directed by Oscar-winning director Paul Thomas Anderson, who also directed short films for Haim in 2017’s “Valentine” and “Little Of Your Love. In 2017, Haim improvised a Hanukkah song and they also sold “Haimukkah” t-shirts to benefit the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh. The band recently dropped a video for song, “Now I’m In It” which targets the mania of depression in the video. “Even when we’re writing about something dark or more serious, we like to tie it up in a bow so that there’s a bit of lightness to it,” Este Haim said in a statement. “We want our music, and this song especially, to be the thing that helps you get through that rough time.” In a twitter post, the band shares, “Now I’m In It” t is about going through it. a depression. not leaving the house type of shit. for my sisters and I, there have been times in our lives where we have felt like we are stuck in a dark hole. this track speaks to that emotion.”
Haim is an LA band of three sisters, Este Haim (bass guitar and vocals), Danielle Haim (vocals and guitar) and Alana Haim (guitars, keyboards, and vocals) who are proficient in various instruments. The group’s pop sound on their studio work stands in contrast to the more rock-based music of their live shows They formed Haim with younger sister Alana in 2007, but did not seriously consider it a professional career for some years. After Danielle became a successful touring guitarist, first with Jenny Lewis and later with Julian Casablancas, Haim reformed as a full-time operation in 2012.
