Maggie Rogers’ “Love You For A Long Time” Adds a Rootsy Influence to Her Sound

American singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers debuted her first song as a 2020 GRAMMY Award-nominated musician, “Love You For A Long Time” tonight. The song begins with an upbeat ad-lib, which delivers a sincere emotional ambiance of happiness. The aflamed beats complement her energetic voice throughout the first verse and bridge.

“And in the morning when I’m waking up,” Rogers sings. “I swear you’re the first thing that I’m thinking of.”

Rogers expresses her perspective of falling in love and sings of how she was struck and taken by surprise.

“Yeah, you took me by surprise,” she sings. “While I was getting lost so deep inside your diamond eyes.”

Earlier today, it was announced Rogers was nominated for a 2020 Grammy Award nomination under the ‘Best New Artist’ category, along-side Black Pumas, Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, Yola, Lizzo, Rosalia, and Tank and the Bangas.

The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards is set to take place on Jan. 26, 2020 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
