Billie Eilish Becomes Youngest Artist To Be Nominated Across All Four Major GRAMMY Award Categories

Billie Eilish has been making history this year, becoming the first person born after 2000 to have number one album with her When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? landing the top spot on the Billboard Charts earlier this year. Her recent Grammy nods in all four major categories, landing nods for record of the year with “Bad Guy”, album of the year with When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, song of the year for “Bad Guy” and best new artist.

The “Bad Guy,” performer also joins Alanis Morissette and Sinead O’ Connor as one of the few female artists to have multiple songs land at number one on the alternative songs chart. Her success has also made her one of the youngest women to reach the number one spot in over a decade. The most recent artist to achieve this was Demi Lovato for her 2009 hit “Here We Go Again” which was released when she was 16.

Although Eilish is the youngest to be nominated in all four of those major categories, younger artists have been nominated for Grammy’s. Latin performer Luis Miguel won his first Grammy Award at the age of 14 for his duet “Me Gustas Tal Como Eresm,” in the now defunct Mexican American performance category, while country music star LeAnn Rimes won the best new artist Grammy in 1997 at the same age.

When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? was nopted for helping push forward the star’s anti-pop image, with her punk like style.

“There is a mix of maturity and childlike wonder found in every beat. When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? is filled to the brim with personal stories and tracks that quite literally bang,” mxdwn reviewer Ally Tatosian explained. This album is a permanent reminder that the young artist is going to dominate the music world.”

Eilish dropped a new track entitled “Everything I Wanted,” earlier this month. She also made stop at Third Man Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, where she recorded a direct-to-acetate vinyl.
