Progressive rock band Coheed and Cambria have announced their inaugural cruise, entitled the S.S. Neverender, who will host multiple artists including Taking Back Sunday, The Dear Hunter, Polyphia and Culture Abuse. The band plans to perform early songs and deep cuts throughout their entire discography, and will premiere their sci-fi concept, The Amory Wars, throughout several on-board installations.
The ship sets sail aboard the Norwegian Pearl on October 26-30, 2020 from Miami to Nassau, Bahamas. In addition to their exhibition, and live performances, the band will also interact with fans in Q&A sessions and other scenarios.
“We’re always trying to find ways to improve the fan experience. Our fans like to travel, they like to meet other fans, we’re like a big family. So the idea of a cruise seemed like a way to allow a bunch of us to just go on vacation together,” explains Coheed founding member Travis Stever.
The band recently cancelled their 2019 tour dates after their drummer, Josh Eppard, underwent heart surgery after an onstage collapse, during a performance at the House of Blues in Orlando, Florida. Their latest album Vaxis – Act I: The Unheavenly Creatures, was released in 2018.
“Due to the necessity of this procedure, Coheed and Cambria will be canceling the rest of our 2019 dates to let Josh get back to full health, so that we can make sure there will be a World for Tomorrow,” the band explained in a statement. “We apologize from the bottom of our hearts to fans in the Midwest and those in Australia, as well as the organizers of these shows. We feel strongly that an abundance of caution is the best move for Josh and for the band at this time. Let there be no confusion, we will be back bigger and stronger in 2020, and are already planning big announcements on the horizon.”
UPDATE (12/3): The S.S. Neverender has announced a few more passengers for its 2020 debut. Thrice, Power Trip and Sheer Mag will each add a unique style of hard-edged music at the festival. See below for the updated flyer.
