On Nov. 15, Canadian progressive metal musician, Devin Townsend, returned to the stage with a full backing band, for the Empath Europe Volume 1 tour with English progressive metal band, Haken. This tour is the first of a series tour ‘volumes’ to play songs throughout his discography. His backing band featured the following live musicians:

It has been reported that Townsend will be focusing on reintroducing a variety of music, such as hard rock, pop rock, and death metal, in the spring/summer of 2020, when his second volume tour will kick off as the 70,000 Tons of Metal, Heavy Metal Cruise Tour, and has hinted at restoring the extreme metal band, Strapping Young Lad, which he originally founded in 1994.
