Show Me the Body Shares Politically Charged Music Video for New Single “USA Lullaby”

New York-based hardcore punk band, Show Me The Body, recently released the music video for “USA Lullaby.” The song is more industrial music banger that closes out their second studio album Dog Whistle released back in March of this year, via Loma Vista Recordings. Sonically, Show Me The Body has played with the musical landscape of punk, incorporating electronic, noise and hip hop elements, yet still retaining that raw, visceral aggression always questioning the status quo. Their anti-establishment attitude and aggressive sound are also present in their latest music video for “USA Lullaby.”

The video opens up with Show Me The Body on stage surrounded by a frantic-frenzied crowd, intercut with images of what appears to be a bris which proudly brings up the group’s Jewish heritage. The video is an amalgamation of expressions including images of abandoned decrepit buildings, police patrolling a section of a street yet also intercut images of a diverse group of fans from different backgrounds making banners of their renditions of Show Me The Body’s signature black coffins shown in one instance painted on the US flag. According to a press release the “USA Lullaby” video “…is the fifth video from the album following ‘Drought,’ (the crowd sourced video featuring the band’s coffin renditions that are the tangible signs of the community SMTB built) ‘Forks and Knives,’ ‘Madonna Rocket,’ and ‘Camp Orchestra‘ and arrives ahead of their upcoming North American tour. The band will embark on a North American headlining run starting in November and then begin supporting Daughters and HEALTH on their co-headlining North American tour starting December 4th in San Francisco.”

Show Me The Body’s current touring roster includes Julian Cashwan Pratt (lead vocals/banjo), Noah Cohen-Corbett (drums) and Harlan Steed (bass). Their latest musical offering Dog Whistle was the follow up project to Show Me The Body’s debut album, 2016’s Body War, a project that showcased Show Me The Body’s eclectic grooves and sounds that made them the most exciting punk bands to come out of New York at that time. As previously stated in a press release Dog Whistle “…was produced by Chris Coady, Show Me The Body, and Gabriel Millman (original drummer and current in-house producer). Dog Whistle was written in Long Island City, Queens and recorded in Los Angeles, California in the summer of 2018.”

Collectively, Show Me The Body had this to say about their latest single “USA Lullaby”:

“The song is about pushing through life amidst constant apocalypse. Apocalypses happen every day. A bomb is an apocalypse of peace, an arrest is an apocalypse of freedom, a death is an apocalypse of family. The video is about how we choose to move through this world. It is a celebration of music, our community and our shows, our tools in the struggle to stay alive and tell the truth.”
