Lizzo Sued by Postmates Delivery Person After She Accused Her of Stealing Her Food on Twitter

Lizzo is being sued by Tiffany Wells for libel, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and false light invasion of privacy. The lawsuit was filed, November 15 in California federal court. Wells picked up food for Lizzo from Luke’s Lobster in Boston and tried to bring it to the artist at the Revere Hotel, but did not have Lizzo’s room number. Wells claims she tried to call Lizzo but could not reach her and eventually abandoned the order.

On September 16, Lizzo tweeted, “Hey @Postmates this girl Tiffany W. stole my food she lucky I don’t fight no more,” along with a photo of the alleged delivery person. She then deleted the tweet. The next day, Lizzo apologized, tweeting, “I apologize for putting that girl on blast. I understand I have a large following and that there were so many variables that could’ve put her in danger. Imma really be more responsible with my use of social media and check my petty and my pride at the door.”

After Lizzo’s initial tweet and apology, TMZ reported that Tiffany W. was “afraid to leave her home and even go to work, for fear someone might harm her or even worse.” The lawsuit calls Lizzo’s September 16 tweets “false statements that are defamatory and are libelous.” In addition, Wells’ lawyers write, “Lizzo’s conduct was extreme and outrageous in that she used her celebrity to publicly defame, disparage, and threaten a private individual (i.e. [Tiffany Wells]), to roughly one million Twitter followers.”

Lizzo denied plagiarism claims from The Raisens and Rothman who claimed that Lizzo used the “melody, lyrics, and chords” of a song they worked on  called “Healthy.” Lizzo denied these claims, stating on social media: “The men who claim a piece of ‘Truth Hurts’ did not help me write any part of the song. They had nothing to do with the line or how I chose to sing it.There was no one in the room when I wrote ‘Truth Hurts,’ except me, Ricky Reed, and my tears. That song is my life, and its words are my truth.”

On a more positive note, Lizzo is scheduled to take the stage for Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden on Friday, December 13, 2019. The iconic Christmas themed concert will also feature Talented pop acts like Taylor Swift, the Jonas Brothers, Halsey, Camila Cabello and more.

Lizzo’s track, “Truth Hurts” topped the Billboard 100 for 7 straight weeks, tied for the longest reign amongst female rap artists. Lizzo and Ariana Grande just recently performed a pop remix for “Good as Hell” which is described as more of an anthem feel for women. The empowering lyrics are complemented by a powerful beat that combined with the melody offers an encouraging vibe that makes you want to sing along.

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
