NovaBound is the eclectic psych-rock project of Andrew Michael Agulto, bringing eclectic influences together for an adventurous sound. Much of that adventure can be experienced in his newest single, “Angel & the Starman,” which we’re premiering today.
The song is the right kind of “epic.” It takes the listener on a musical journey, from blistering classic rock guitar leads to soulful organ jams to dreamy psych-pop melodic passages. The song’s only 4:22 seconds long, but has the feel of a much longer musical movement. As the opening track for NovaBound’s new album Sevenths, it’s the perfect tone-setter for the entire record.
Agulto records along with his brother Arthur and Kevin Basko, who serve as studio mentors for the progressive psych project. Live, Agulto performs with Ryan Palmer on keyboards, Tim Butler on bass and Kevin Lam on drums. You’ll be able to catch the band performing soon, as they have a couple of shows coming up in the New York City area. The first is in Brooklyn’s Muchmore’s NYC on 11/21 and the second in Highland Park, NJ at Chamber 43 the next day, 11/22.
Sevenths is out November 22, 2019 and is the follow-up to NovaBound’s debut EP. That record, the Low Poly Breakfast EP, was released in October of 2018. Sevenths will be self-released.
