Florida born rapper Kodak Black has been sentenced to 46 months in prison on various weapon charges which date back to January and March of this year. While the rapper is known for several hits such as “Zeze”, “Roll in Peace”, “Tunnel Vision”, and “No Flockin” he also has long criminal history, and remains under indictment on charges of criminal sexual conduct in South Carolina.
Kodak Black was apprehended in May, prior to his scheduled performance at Miami’s Rolling Loud Music Festival. The January charge relates to a gun purchase the rapper made while using a false social security while filling out a background check to purchase guns in Hialeah, Florida. Later in March he attempted to purchase guns once again, but attempted to use his real Social Security number number instead, which blocked the transaction.
One of the guns was found two months later at the scene of an attempted shooting in Pompano Beach, where two houses, one of which held children inside were shot at. This weapon allegedly had the rapper’s fingerprints on it.
Back in May the rapper was denied bond and labeled a “danger to the community,” as response to his numerous charges. In addition to his gun and sexual assault charges the rapper has been arrested and charge in the past for false imprisonment of a child, various misdemeanor gun and drug charges, fleeing from officers, and armed robbery.
His 2016 sex assault incident however has garnered the most media attention. In 2016, the rapper allegedly brought a fan to his hotel room after a show, where he reportedly told her he “couldn’t help himself” tore off her clothes, bit her repeatedly, and raped her as she screamed for help. While the rapper was released on $100,000 bond regarding the case, these recent convictions may make the rapper ineligible for the bonds in the future.
