Independent duo Wye Oak have premiered a new track entitled “Fortune,” ahead of their scheduled 2020 tour dates with JOIN, which is set to launch next February. This upcoming tour will see the artists perform tracks from their side projects, which includes Andy Stack’s solo project Joyero and Jenn Wasner’s solo project Flock of Dimes.

“Fortune,” takes an experimental approach with some elements of spacious ambient instrumentals, on top of the steady drum beat and guitar chords throughout the track. The group’s Wasner performs vocals on this track with great range, with powerful deliveries during the chorus.

“Life is change. Change is loss,” Wasner explained regarding this latest track. “This song is about how hard it is to let go, and the feeling of celebrating and mourning it all at once.”

The duo performed at the Festival of Disruption in New York City earlier this year alongside prominent acts such as Garbage, Mercury Rev, Phoebe Bridgers and a DJ set from LCD Soundsystem’s Nancy Whang. This event, which is curated by Lynch himself, in partnership with the Bowery Presents, donates its proceeds from the shows to help promote transcendental meditation to people suffering from PTSD.

Last year the band also released a music video for “It Was Not Natural,” from their critically acclaimed fifth album The Louder I Call, The Faster It RunsThe video mixed in dreamlike landscapes, blended with eclectic and wild visuals, which featured Wasner playing a piano with her hands behind her, and dancing with people in pink full body suits.
