Eminem is no stranger to controversy, his quick flow, and his quick-witted, albeit controversial lyricism arguably helped launch his career into the mainstream to begin with. However, a newly leaked recording that’s over a decade old hosts a verse from the rapper where he supports Chris Brown for assaulting Rihanna.
This leaked recording was made during the 2009 sessions for his album Relapse, which ended a nearly 5 year album hiatus for the rapper. The lyrics in question reference Brown’s 2009 assault charge, where he was sentenced to 5 years of probation and a community service order after physically assaulting Rihanna in her car. Photos of Rihanna’s face after the incident were spread across the media sparking widespread outrage.
Eminem’s line states:
“I’m not playing Rihanna where’d you get the V.D. at?/Let me add my two cents/Of course I side with Chris Brown/I’d beat a bitch down, too.”
This track and verse never made it to the records and was “scrapped” and eventually rewritten. His verse was eventually reworked and appeared on B.o.B.’s 2011 track also entitled “Things Get Worse.”
“This is a leak of something that’s over 10 years old,” Dennis Dennehy, the rapper’s spokesman explained. “After Eminem recorded it, he scrapped it, and rewrote it. Obviously he and Rihanna have a great relationship.”
Despite this lyrics, the two performers have collaborated multiple times, with Rihanna being featured on the tracks “Love The Way You Lie,” “Numb” and “The Monster.”
Eminem recently discussed the fall out of his controversy with the secret service, who allegedly interviewed Eminem in response to his lyrics regarding the president.
