The tomb of Horus has been cracked open and out from that great tear comes the slow, melodic heralds of doom-metal band, Khemmis. With stylish heavy doom-groove riffs, Khemmis have made a name for themselves. Starting in 2012, the band formed in Denver, Colorado. Their first release was a 3-track self-titled EP that gave their listeners a 50 lb round-house kick to the face. Slow? Yes. Heavy? Also yes. Heavy enough to carve out a foundation strong enough to hold the weight of their next endeavors.
Their next journey created the full-length album titled Hunted (2016) which gave listeners a full look into how the band could develop dynamically. Hunted received critical praise. Their latest album titled Desolation (2018) broke open the tomb that they were released from and from that, there has been no turning back. The 6-track masterpiece leaves listeners crushed under a righteously dynamic wall of sonic thunder.
2019 has been good to Khemmis. With Ben Hutcherson (guitar/vocals), Phil Pendergast (guitar/vocals), Daniel Beiers (bass) and Zach Coleman (drums) signing to monolithic record label Nuclear Blast in February, providing cover of Gary Chandlers “O Death” for the video game The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan in August and readying in preparation of their very own Winter 2019 West Coast Desolation MMXIX Tour, expect to hear a more veteran and refined sound from their future endeavors.
