Bring Me The Horizon Shares New Death Stranding: Timefall Soundtrack Song “Ludens” & Reveal Plans for Multiple Shorter Albums Next Year

Bring Me The Horizon have debuted a new song entitled “Ludens,” which will be featured on the soundtrack for the upcoming Hideo Kojima videogame Death Stranding. In addition to this song announcement, the band have revealed their plans to release multiple short projects next year.

“Ludens,” begins with a glitchy electronic instrumental, that are complimented by harsh vocals, and a dark, industrial inspired sound. This eventually gives way to a more heavy sound as the song progresses as heavy metal guitars and drums join in on the instrumental, calling back to the band’s earlier work, while standing uniquely on its own.

“It doesn’t sound like anything off ‘amo’, but it doesn’t sound like anything off any of our records,” frontman Oli Sykes told NME. “It hits a different tone. We had to write it in five days. We’ve been talking about this with Sony and Kojima for quite a while. I was really excited because I loved Metal Gear Solid and Kojima is just my favourite developer, he’s a legend. All of the legal shit was going on to the point where we like, ‘This isn’t going to happen’.

While the band have stated that this new track will likely appear on an upcoming record, Sikes have stated that they are finished with the album format, and will pursue smaller projects instead. Sikes rationalized this by stating that the album writing process does not allow for the band to perform the entire project in its entirety, which is why he prefers smaller projects.

“We’ve got plans, definitely. ‘Ludens’ will be the first song you hear from the new record. We’re not going to do an album again, maybe ever. We’re thinking about doing shorter records,” Sikes explained further in the interview. “I don’t want to say we’re going to do something and not live up to it, but the plan is to release multiple records next year.”

While the band originated as a heavy deathcore band, they ventured into more pop territory with songs such as “nihilist blues,” featuring the singer Grimes. Last month the band debuted music video for “In The Dark,” starring Forest Whitaker.
