Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder recently joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers on stage at a benefit concert in Los Angeles, CA covering some classic songs. According to Consequence of Sound, a cover of Tom Petty’s “Wildflowers” from Vedder and then continued on with a soulful rendition of Prince’s “Purple Rain” along with help from a student. Shortly after, they continued into a faithful version of Jimi Hendrix’s take on “All Along the Watchtower”, originally written by Bob Dylan. The set was a part of an annual fundraising concert for Silverlake Conservatory of Music that happened this past weekend.
Vedder also joined the band on stage this past September at the annual Ohana Festival in Dana Point, CA. Both served as headliners with Vedder joining the band on their headlining night to perform another classic; “Just What I Needed” by The Cars. On Vedder’s headlining night, he provided a cover of Daniel Johnston’s “Walking the Cow.” He then joined The Strokes on stage to perform Pearl Jam’s “Hard to Imagine” while telling the crowd “and as you’ve displayed here today and tonight, there’s so much power in a group of organized people, with good thoughts, hopes, dreams, and we will persevere.” Both then went on to perform “Juicebox.”
