Tame Impala Announces North American Spring 2020 Tour Dates

Things just keep getting better and better for Tame Impala fans. Last week Kevin Parker announced, The Slow Rush, a new Tame Impala album to follow up his Grammy nominated project, Currents. Although no official release date was announced, it didn’t take long for the man behind the music to give us the day the project would be released: February 14th, 2020 via Interscope records. But he didn’t stop there, he also blessed fans with a new track off the album, “It Might Be Time” which follows the previously released album track, “Borderline” and another single “Patience.”

But today Mr. Tame Impala himself announced a North American set to take place in the Spring of 2020. Although only four dates have been announced and three of them take place in California, Parker said it was only the first set of dates to be announced. The tour will start on March 9th in San Diego, CA before moving northward towards Los Angeles and San Francisco and wrapping up in Mexico City, Mexico. Tickets for the U.S. dates go on sale Saturday, November 9 at 12pm PST and the Mexico City show is on sale Friday, Nov 8 at 11:00 AM local time.

Earlier in the year Kevin Parker performed the new Tame Impala songs, “Borderline” and “Patience,” on Saturday Night live as well as headlining a number of major festivals throughout the year including, Coachella, Primavera, Lollapalooza, ACL and more. When Tame Impala first toured the United States in 2010 they played at small clubs to crowds of about 200, fast forward nine years and thanks to the ravenous demand from Tame Impala fans they have sold out arenas around the world including two nights at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

The Slow Rush is Parker’s attempt at conjuring the feeling of an entire lifetime into an album with major milestones passing by. He wants the listener to see that so many important things pass by when we stare at our phones, it’s a paean to destruction, and the unending cycle of life. In an interview with New York Times earlier this year, Parker said that, “A lot of the songs carry this idea of time passing, of seeing your life flash before your eyes, being able to see clearly your life from this point onwards. I’m being swept by this notion of time passing. There’s something really intoxicating about it.”

Fans can pre-order The Slow Rush at tameimpala.com, or with a ticket purchase for the North American tour dates.  Digital pre-orders will receive the two album tracks instantly.
