Sarah Grace McLaughlin, better known by her stage name, Bishop Briggs, debuts an intimate new track, “Someone Else.” The song is off of her forthcoming album Champion which is set to release on November 8th through Island Records. Since emerging in 2015 Briggs has seen nothing but success, her debut single, “Wild Horses,” found success while being featured in an Acura commercial, eventually making its way in to the top 30 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart. However, her next single is where she really found commercial success. “River” ranked number one on Hype Machine’s popular charts as well as topping out at number 3 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart. Fast forward a few years and she re-released her self-titled debut EP featuring four songs including her commercial hit, “River.”
Briggs has recently announced her highly anticipated sophomore album, Champion. “Someone Else” is the fourth single released from the sophomore album, it follows “Tattooed On My Heart,” “Jekyll and Hide,” and the album titled track “Champion.” From the second the song starts it possesses a real feeling of intimacy allowing the listener to feel the emotions in Bishop Briggs’ voice. Briggs goes on to show her dynamic talent when she screams, “All I want to do is,” to start the angelically heavy sounding chorus before taking a step down to the second verse ever so delicately. The song’s catchy hook and unique delivery make it a song one would find themselves listening to over and over. You can check it out below.
Bishop Briggs has amassed nearly 2 billion global streams since her emergence as a serious artist in 2017, her second single, “River” was certified platnium and her debut album Church of Scars made its way into the top 10 on Billboards Album Chart. Her music has collected praise from a number of noteable industry catalogs such as Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, Billboard, NPR, and more. She has set the stage for yet another instant classic, Champion will be available for purchase November 8th.
