Children of Bodom Release Ghoulish Animated Video “Hexed” Just in Time for Halloween

Finnish extreme metal band Children of Bodom have released new animated video for “Hexed,” the title track of their recent album, which dropped back in March. This latest video was created by team of students at the The Royal Melbourne Institute Of Technology in Australia with Aaron McLoughlin and Simon Norton producing.

“Hexed,” features black and white animation, and shows various ghouls, silhouettes of the band members and shots of an eclipsed moon throughout its run time. The video ends with the body of one of the ghouls gently floating down into a lake reflecting the moon, as death is shown watching by. The track is hard hitting and aggressive, which matches with the band’s extreme heavy metal playing style, with fast riffs and percussion, complimented by harsh vocals.

“It’s such a cool thing to have a video of one my favourite tracks of the album. And the fact it’s made by Aaron and his 25 students in Australia is even cooler,” the band’s bassist Henkka T. Blacksmith stated regarding the video. “The black and white calm mood suits perfectly to this not-so-calm song. The lake and it’s reflection makes a perfect ending for it.”

Hexed is the group’s 10th studio album, and was preceded by the single “Grass and Clover,” which is featured on the album. The team that worked on this latest video project took inspiration from the band’s previous videos along with their album art.

“As always, we like to come up with something that suits what the band is all about, so we drew inspiration from the song lyrics as well as the monochromatic imagery found in Children of Bodom’s videos and album art,” McLoughlin explained. “We decided a black and white horror film would be cool – set on a lake, of course!”
