Dan Deacon Announces New Album Mystic Familiar for January 2020 Release

Electronic musician and composer Dan Deacon has announced a new studio album entitled Mystic Familiar, which will be released January 31st on the Domino record label. This latest album announcement is accompanied by a new single and music video entitled “Sat by a Tree,” which was directed by Daren Rabinovitch and stars comedian Aparna Nancherla.

“Sat by a Tree,” features upbeat and eclectic electronic production, creating a pleasant pop tune, with upbeat vocals, and experimental synth sounds that fit in perfectly with the track. The music video shows Nancherla becoming consumed by a variety of bugs, worms and insects, as her body lays on the ground covered in dirt.

“I’m beyond excited to share news with you about my new album!” Deacon stated in an Instagram post. “Its called ‘Mystic Familiar‘ and it will be out Jan 31st! I have been working on it for years and I’m really excited for you to hear it soon!”

Deacon will also be embarking on a tour this fall, which will begin next month in Knoxvville, Tennessee, and is expected to finish out next May in Washington D.C. His live shows are known to be large spectacles, and typically utilize large-scale audience participation and interaction.

Back in 2017 Deacon released an original soundtrack for the film Rat Film. Check out the eclectic video for his 2015 single “When I Was Done Dying,” here.
