Burial Announces New Compilation Album Tunes 2011–2019 for December 2019 Release

Enigmatic British electronic musician Burial announced new compilation album titled Tunes 2011-2019 slated for a December 6th release via Hyperdub. This is noteworthy due to Tunes 2011-2019 being the first project released from Burial in nearly a decade.

As previously reported in Pitchfork, “Burial has assembled and ordered compilation of his non-album singles from 2011-2019, effectively comprising his first full-length of the decade.” It is worth noting that earlier this year, Burial had released new material as of late. Back in March, Burial got a surprise release in the form of a track called “Claustro” that premiered on Mary Anne Hobbs’ BBC Radio 6 show before her departure with Britain’s BBC Radio 1 that September. According to Pitchfork “Claustro” has Burial returning, “…to the UK garage that has always been fundamental to his sound. The rimshot-heavy beat shuffles and swings like it’s 1999 all over again, and the way he chops up the vocals has the unmistakable air of the 2-step bootlegs of R&B hits that once ruled the UK’s dancefloors.”

The initial aforementioned Pitchfork article concludes that “Burial has not released an original full-length since 2007’s Untrue. In recent years, along with sharing solo singles like ‘Claustro’ and ‘State Forest,’ he’s collaborated with Kode9 and the Bug.”

The track listing for Tunes 2011-2019 is as follows:
