Kevin Smith Says Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance Will Score for Upcoming Clerks 3

Actor, director and screenwriter Kevin Smith has recruited former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way to score the film Clerks 3. The news of yet another Clerks sequel broke during a roadshow event for Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, a film starring the pair of iconic characters from the Clerks series.

In addition to Way performing the soundtrack, the film will host the return of Jason Mews as Jay, and Smith returning to his role as Silent Bob.

Way had previously worked with Smith on the track “The Water is Wide,” featured on the soundtrack for the A24 film Tusk.

Last year way released a Halloween themed track entitled “Baby You’re A Haunted House,” which was released through Reprise Records, with an accompanying parody music video. Way referenced a house built by Damien Webb in particular as the inspiration for the song, which also holds themes of self-reflection.

“The haunted house was built by a model maker named Damien Webb and it kind of inspired me to put the song out for Halloween, as it seemed fitting with the holiday. I hope you enjoy the song. It was a lot of fun to make and features my brother Mikey Way on bass, Tom Rasulo on drums, guitar and vocals by me, an additional guitar by Ian Fowles.”

Earlier this year the performer released a faithful cover of The Turtles’ 1967 hit “Happy Together,” featuring Ray Toro, a former My Chemical Romance bandmate. Way’s version was a more rock inspired work, with less aggression and less abrasive than the My Chemical Romance songs he is usually known for.
